Demetri Martin telling jokes in cold places
Demetri Martin visited some Canadian cities to kick off his North American tour for 2012. He made his way to Toronto on Friday, January 13, performing at the Queen Elizabeth Theater at the Exhibition Place.

Infamous large pad.
Demetri Martin’s jokes are mainly one-liner puns, play on words, play on the English language, and play on irrational human behaviour and North American cultural norms. I ate up every single moment of it because I am the kind who likes to think about a joke for a moment (sometimes long moments) and then laugh (or smirk with a facial expression that conveys “touché!”).

Demetri often incorporates music in his shows.
His most endearing acts are when he plays his harmonica and guitar, all the while telling jokes and being so suave like a smooth operator. His guitar was overwaxed and super shiny, thus reflecting spotlight into my eyes and the eyes of the audience. He acknowledged it, apologized, and promised to hold it in an awkward way to ensure it would not get in the way of our enjoyment. So courteous, so lovely.

His long hair and casual attire makes him look 20 years younger than he really is.
I won’t tell or describe or quote any of his jokes here because Demetri Martin jokes are best heard from Demetri Martin himself. The experience of attending a comedy show by Demetri is worthwhile the ticket price, the parking, the traveling downtown in below freezing temperature and awful driving conditions.

Demetri has a prominent nose. I like prominent noses.
- Despite his very casual, teenage-ish attire, Demetri was born on May 1973, making him 38 years old
- Demetri attended New York University School of Law on a full scholarship, but left after two years.
- Demetri is known for his prominent nose. I like prominent noses.
- Demetri is working on a pilot show that will be animated, to be shown on Fox.
Thank you, Demetri, for making it up to Toronto. I had the most wonderful time and I will forever cherish the irony you sprinkled in that magical hour. Please come back and tell more jokes in cold places!
